* Westville Boys High School (Durban South Africa) is a member of the International
Forum of Leading Schools (the IFLS).
This forum is currently chaired by the Head Master of Eton, Tony Little, and includes
leading schools invited from the various continents to provide a global perspective in
the interests of promoting educational excellence. The Forum is driven by the European
Union Education Foundation.
Westville Boys’ High was selected by IFLS and CHEER to provide a voice from and for
Africa. Headmaster of Westville Boys High, Trevor Hall formed part of a panel at
the recent ILFS conference in Xi’an, China, which presented ideas on how to
practically implement programmes to nurture initiative, creativity and independence
in high school students.
Other members of the panel were: Tony Little (Eton, UK), Stephen Murray
(University School, USA), Martin Kneath (Regents School, Bangkok),
Gabrielle Steinbach (Schiffstad, Germany), Hang Kim Hoo (NUS, Singapore).
